Off the Rails Episode 06: Unraveling a Ball of Wax

Originally recorded on November 13, 2020

This episode is the first in a series focusing on the interaction between AV, e-learning, technology, and pedagogy. Internally, we’ve been referring to this as the Crossroads Conversation and as we don’t have a better title, we’ll just let that stand.

We’re joined by Dr. Jon Dorbolo from Oregon State University who takes us on a journey through the history of online and digital learning over the last 30+ years. Dr. Dorbolo puts us all in check pretty quick, as he moves seamlessly from Ancient Greek learning technology to the advantages of 600 seat round classrooms.

In the news, we once again marvel at students who work harder at avoiding work then actually doing the work.

The AV SuperFriends sit down with Dr. Jon Dorbolo from Oregon State University to talk about the interaction of technology and pedagogy.  Jon quickly puts us all in our place and runs circles around all of us-- except maybe Rachel and Larry-- as he provides a history lesson on teaching online over the last 30 years.  Also, remember Gopher?  And Turbo Gopher?
