Off the Rails Episode 50: Spigots and Tubes and Knobs

Recorded October 7, 2022

We start with an article about the difficulties students are having with access and with technology in general. We all moved very quickly to require individual students to have convenient and reliable access to the technology necessary to participate in remote and hybrid classes, perhaps with the assumption that the average student was adept at those tasks. How can we help ensure we’re not inadvertently causing more problems than we’re addressing?

Then, Justin is struggling with a large capital project and the interaction with an AV consultant. Marc suggests Justin act as a user advocate, Larry advises breaking through communication barriers, Jamie relates tales of similar past experiences and Chris simply calls for immediately violence… and then working around the AV consultant. (Psst! Consultants, this is how your clients often see you).

Finally, we review the various websites and online resources we use when looking for jobs or when listing new positions to hire on our teams. What is useful and what is just noise?
